NZSO Charity Auction
On 28 March 2024 we conducted the highly successful New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) Charity Auction in which $47,871.70 were raised from the sale of objects, luxury travel, culinary and musical experiences.
Instrument Procurement
A vital element of the NZSO’s core costs and in 2024 is instrument procurement. They need to purchase specialist instruments and accessories in the ever-so-vital wind and percussion sections (what would Ravel or Prokofiev be without them!). NZSO amassed a truly impressive array of objects and unique experiences that were auctioned online through Webb’s.
Webb’s is proud to support artists and organisations and to contribute to socially valuable philanthropic causes.
On 28 March 2024 we conducted the highly successful New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) Charity Auction in which $47,871.70 were raised from the sale of objects, luxury travel, culinary and musical experiences.
The entirety of the proceeds from this sale (including buyers’ premium fees) were donated to the NZSO toward their instrument procurement fund for their winds and percussion sections.
Highlights from this auction included the sponsorship of violinist Amalia Hall – which sold for $11,352.50 — and contributed to the artist's performance fees, accommodation, flights and travel rehearsal period and tour to Wellington and Christchurch.
Likewise, generous patrons purchased a Logan Brown fine dining experience for $7,170 — giving them an at-home culinary feast for eight people.
We are honoured to have played a small part in helping our foremost national orchestra in their quest toward performing up to 100 symphonic concerts, and dozens of dedicated concerts for children and small communities each year — including outreaches at schools, maraes, hospitals, parks, rest homes and beyond.
“The unique, soulful and lyrical sounds of the oboe, oboe d'amore and cor anglais have long been a favourite of many composers. Bach and Mozart, through to Tchaikovsky, Richard Strauss and Mahler. These composers created some of their most touching and personal melodies for the members of the oboe family. It is an enormous privilege for us, as players, to recreate this music for our audiences." Robert Orr, NZSO Principal Oboe
